“From a place by the sea”…
Seaton Children’s House got its namesake from a young mother’s desire to bestow a sense of belonging in her newborn son.
Robin Hippel knew from childhood that she wanted to be a mother. When her son Lucas was born in Cape May, NJ, she gave him the middle name Seaton (“from a place by the sea”), forever rooting in him a sense of identity where the water meets the sand.
Education was a formative part of their budding parent-child relationship. Robin’s growing interest in the tutelage of Dr. Maria Montessori, combined with Lucas’s desire for learning and creative outlets, provided a proving ground for experimentation in early education models and philosophies.
The trials were a success - boosted by an early start, Lucas went on to scholastic achievement in high school and college, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. After Lucas met his wife Katelyn, it was clear that early childhood education would play a major role in their future.
Now, Lucas and Katelyn, with Robin’s support, are shifting their focus to provide children with opportunities to develop and learn in another place by the sea - Charleston, South Carolina!
We offer the same passion, attention, and individual focus to your child that Lucas and countless children have received during Robin’s career, spanning 40 years in early childhood development, teaching, and directing Montessori-style education.
Seaton Children’s House is committed to its core ideals - fostering creative expression and knowledge application to give children a sense of belonging in the world. Through this, we know we can make our ‘place by the sea’ a bit brighter for children of all ages.
It is our mission to provide children with a comfortable, nurturing, and safe environment, one that fosters self-discovery, a joy of learning, and a positive self image through a balanced learning approach.
